national library of the philippines

The National Library of the Philippines is the mother of all public libraries in the country. They serve as the national respository for Filipiniana materials and other documents that promotes the country's cultural heritage and history. They are mandated to provide access to Filipiniana materials as well toe preserve and conserve it for equiatable access for the Filipino people and other users.

organizational chart

Since we have worked with different divisions and offices, I am so surprised of  many librarians and heads they have. Attached herewith is the Organizational Chart of the NLP.

the national library of the philippines environment

To be honest, NLP's physical environment is not as par with other national libraries of other countries, such as in Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. One might think that it's just a building with books. I am also sad, as the divisions of NLP kind of imply that they are under budget. I don't want to assume, but the current situation of the divisions is not conducive and bombarding. A co-intern told me that it looks like a warehouse instead of a library.

PROCEED WITH MY REFLECTION

The National Library of the Philippines has been a great avenue for me to understand further how a public library functions, or should I say, a "National Library". I met new people, learned new things, and discovered more skills in which I am glad to share with my reflection and realization from my four-week experience.
